Essential Home Decor Accessories

Today I’m talking about my list of essential home decor essentials – the pieces that make my home feel stylish and put together.

It’s the chic little details of a home that can elevate the look of any space.

I’m always on the hunt for new ideas, so please share if you have some thoughts about this topic as well!

So, what are the essential home decor accessories every home should have?

Here’s my list in a nutshell:

1. Vases:

As you might already know, I love to use blue and white ginger jars as vases.

The one above is from Etsy.

Natural elements like a little fresh greenery, branches or flowers always adds the perfect touch to any space

If blue and white jars aren’t your thing, there’s an endless amount of vases on the market.

I personally love vases that look great on their own, even when they’re empty… because life happens.

Vases great for adding an essential pop of color and come in so many traditional and modern styles alike.

SHOP VASES:

2. Throw Pillows (everyone’s favorite essential home decor accessory):

Like many of you, I can never have enough throw pillows in my home.

Regardless of your home’s overall color scheme, it’s the perfect way to showcase your favorite fabrics, patterns or colors.

I love using throw pillows on sofas (above) beds, chairs, nooks and even in a wicker basket or two.

Throw pillows are a must for almost any room, even a small space can benefit from one or two.

This is probably the easiest way to refresh a room you’re not quite ready to fully redecorate!

For this reason, new throw pillows are often one of the first things I consider when a room starts to feel a little tired to me.

3. Trays:

I love a chic tray!

The one above in my living room is my latest favorite.

I love using trays in my home office, on book cases, coffee tables (great to wrangle a remote control or two), bedside tables, on ottomans, the list goes on and on.

The chicest way to pull together smaller accessories and really make a space feel put together!

SHOP TRAYS:

4. Books:

I’ve said this before but it’s worth repeating…books are such an easy way to bring your own personality and passions into your home.

Here are some of my go to favorites, several of them by top interior designers I love to follow for inspiration,

Be sure to read this post on even more of my all time favorite coffee table books here.

5. Objects Of Interest:

This next group of home decor accessories encompasses all the fun little pieces which add personality and style and in my opinion, the best thing to have – a bit of whimsy or sense of humor.

From the toy disco ball we have on our living room mantel to the fun wood beads and ceramic zebras above – I love to always include a few fun and interesting home decor items throughout my home.

The zebras were an Etsy find from several years ago and the wood beads were a gift, but you can find similar ones here!

6. Art:

Saving the best for last here!

As someone who loves to create art, this is of course my favorite way to add style and personality to my home.

Seen here in our beach house dining room – more to come on this home soon.

Whether it’s a bold statement piece with a lot of wow factor or simply framing sentimental objects in your life, you can never have enough art in your home.

I’ve done some other posts about the best place to find art for your home and on the three silhouettes above, but I wanted to include a few new favorite wall art finds in this post here as well!

SHOP ART:

Conclusion

So, these are my top home decor accessories.

I also love to see fresh flowers and potted plants in a home as well.

This includes artificial plants as well, I don’t discriminate.
