Cold Weather Essentials

Temps around here have been in the low forties, which isn’t too bad. However, it’s only going to get colder (and we go to Vermont a lot…where it’s below freezing almost everyday!) So today I’ve rounded up my favorite cold weather must haves. Many of these make great gifts as well! Some are pricey…but worth the investment.

In fact, I’ve had my Sorel Caribou boots for several years already. These trusty winter boots keep my feet warm and dry and the lug soles keep me sturdy in the snow and ice. There’s even a removable lining that I occasionally wear around our Vermont condo, if I know I’m going to be going in and out a lot. Once I’m in for the night… I opt for a cozy pair of Ugg slippers. And for even more warmth, I’m all about these Smartwool socks.

This year I bought myself a Canada Goose jacket. They come in so many different styles and colors, but after reading several reviews and trying on a few different options, I purchased the Trillium style in black. I love how it looks paired with my new navy leather tech gloves and faux fur scarf.
The older I get the more I realize how important it is to pay attention to my skin in the winter. Since mine tends to be dry, keeping it moisturized in the cold weather is a priority. While some of my beauty products tend to rotate…I use this lip balm during the day (addicted) and this facial oil, every night, right after I wash my face.
Finally, I always try to dress in layers. That usually means a cotton tank under a roomy cashmere turtle neck- I’ve been living in this one, or a long sleeve tee shirt with one of my favorite (and affordable) cashmere cardigans Add some hot cocoa and a cute pom pom hat and I”m ready to take on winter…(and by ready, I mean I’d rather be in Florida tbh).
!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s); = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

    I think you have a great blog and wonderful style however, I wish you would be more considerate about the products you post. Today, you posted 2 items that were made from real animal fur! When bloggers post on such a public platform it makes their readers believe that they have somehow made thoughtful choices and therefore makes it okay to buy the items that are posted. Would love it for a mainstream blogger to make a post about compassionate fashion ( or give options) because it actually looks better without the cruelty or quilt.

    I was going to say the same thing. I'm not huge activist, but I see no need for real fur or feathers at this point.
