For quite some time, we have been seeing the trend of
mixing modern design with traditional elements.

This last shot of the exterior of the house really
exemplifies how well modern shapes mix with
traditional architecture.

What a great blend of the old and new. Love the girl's room with turquoise and pink – and that great settee!
Love the stunning mix …The second image is amazing:)..Have a great Monday
Kisses
Really, really great! I have a 2 pillows just like the bench in the 1st photo…I'm inspired to get them back out and mix it up 🙂 Thanks for the motivating Monday feature. And that girls room….REALLY?! If we had a daughter, there might be new construction zone in my home!! XO, Kelly
REALLY like that pink and blue room, and you're right, it totally fits in (surprisingly) with the architecture. Just gorgeous!
Sue this is so gorgeous and tasteful. I would love to get the hang of this style.
xoxo,
Carrie
Great style. The team at Tocar design are extremely talented, eclectic ad modern, favorite client of my showroom. their designs are so unlike the traditional Connecticut style.
Love picture 2 especially!!
Beautiful! I am just loving the girl's bedroom. Looking at the outside of the home you would not expect this design style at all!
BTW: stop by the blog having my first giveaway!

Picture number 1 is my fav. I love the swankiness of it!
Joanne
I like it a lot. This home gives a very classic yet modern expression. This is the key to a perfect home(but still can be difficult to put togehter)!
How do they do that?
The mix=LOVE!
LOVE the exposed beams and built in book shelves!
I'm working on a similar project with a client. They are building a house…almost old world with traditional elements, but their esthetic is mid century modern. It takes time and talent to make the combo plate work, so I'm impressed with work you've shown here. Love the large bench and coffee table together.
Adore the pink and blue room – these colours make such excellent companions. Have a nice Monday and a happy week. xx
I love the kitchen!
Love mixing old and new – it makes a home so much more timeless. What an amazing place!
That kitchen is gorgeous! Loving the dining area! xo
p.s. I have a Anthropologie giveaway taking place if it interests you!
It's on a grand scale but feels comfortable at the same time. Love the kitchen!
My favorite mix, Sue. So comfortable and livable. Thanks for sharing these – never would have seen them otherwise!
The second to last room looks like it would be part of a Betsy Johnson house! I love Conneticut homes, especially the ones in Greenwhich. They're gorgeous inside. LOVE the room with the turquoise curtains! The high ceilings with the rafters in the second pic are beautiful. I'm so envious of all these lovely rooms!
This house is beautiful! It is the perfect mix!
The house from the outside is already gorgeous! I love the bathroom, the turquoise curtains and the neutral sitting room!
The sleek low X bench with the delicious ikat fabric in the first photo is speaking naughty things in my ear.
That ikat like finished bench is lovely and i love the child's room! Beautiful home. xx
Great colors in those first 2 pics! Love them!
xx

I love the mix too…great examples. I love the feel of the first room. I also feel that first photo exemplifies how much mixing patterns can also elevate the design of any room.
What a GORGEOUS home! I love how it's such a mix of styles — beautiful.

i am a huge fan of this mixture. it seems like this decor would last a lifetime without getting dated…especially the first room!
I love all the rooms…but that pink and aqua room for a girl is beautiful!
You're right Sue. Great house. Thanks for sharing!
xx
what a gorgeous home! love the room with that grand fireplace and beams especially 🙂
It really does combine them perfectly! Great find Sue! It's amazing 🙂
I love the 5th image…I've been dying to use that double lantern (the one over the dining table) in a project. It's really lovely.
I love the old and new inspiration here. We are in the process of buying a house built in the 1920s and I definitely want to freshen up the interiors while giving nod to it's history. Many of these will go in my inspiration files. Thanks!
That pink and blue room is just so darn pretty. Imagine having that as your bedroom as a little girl? Wowzas! So gorgeous xo
That could very possibly be my dream house. It's so perfect, especially the exterior. I love the older look without being, er, old.
Such a perfect mix. Not too much. Not too little. Just right! xoxo E
wow – all those pics were from THAT house – all the rooms are very ubnexpected if u ask me – not a "mesh" of design – but unique ..

Gorgeous. I'm impressed! I love the turquoise curtains : )
I used to love an all-white cottage feel.. but now I just totally am the most obsessed fan of New Traditionalism, nothing is better for me than the easy, friendly elegance achieved by mixing all and new. Adorbs xo
Love that starry bedroom light! And the colorful, pastel bedroom. Guess I'm liking bedrooms right now! 🙂
WOW! what an amazing home! Its a really eye catching mix of interior design eras.
I looove those x-benches in the first image! Lovely! You're right–the "mix" is always such a pleasing way to go. Less stodgy, right?
Ohh I love this! Traditional furnishings combined with chic patterned fabrics. This home is to die for!
xo Linda
my fav is the pink and blue room, love the window shade
The livingroom and the kitchen … oh yes… love it love it love it. Everything just looks so inviting, relaxing and upscale at the same time.
cheers
Susan
That white rug is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I can picture myself waking up in the morning and my feet hitting that instead of our current carpet. What a great way to start the day.
xo
Valerie
These rooms are amazing!! I'd take any one of these. But for some reason, I'm kinda liking that pink bedroom 🙂
Oh and sweetie, will you stop by new blog and fill out where you're located?

I love Connecticut Cottage and Gardens! And this home is beautiful. I think that a balance of traditional and modern describes my own aesthetic very well. Love that ikat bench too!
Love the contemporary/traditional mix – keeps both fresh!
I love these. You have a great eye for sharing.
Great vibe to the house. Did you notice one of the rooms has a chandelier similar to your logo?
So pretty and unexpected!
LOVE it!!!! PRETTY!

Kristin
Oh I love those turquoise curtains and that room and I adore the kitchen. I am thinking about doing the mix/match for my kitchen table and chairs so this is great inspiration.

Love that bathroom! Each room looks fabulous!
I love this mix of old and new! That second picture in particular is a great example – it reminds me of all the houses I've seen in Amsterdam, that used to be warehouses but have now been converted to apartments. And that bathroom is very cool!
these are beautiful looks…a wall mirror would be an interesting feature to add to a room!
The second shot of the exposed dark wood beams makes me not hate mine so much. And I'm loving that bathtub!
Do I spy an ikat table in the first picture? Love it!
