Summer Beauty Buys

My summer beauty routine looks almost identical to my winter one. I tend to stick to a make up look all year round. And assuming it’s not making me look dated, I’ll stick with it for years, favoring the tried and true over trends. You can find all my forever favorite beauty items here. However, when it comes to overall beauty maintenance, I’m much more likely to try out new products. Especially in the summer and winter, when extreme climate changes here in the Northeast create grooming challenges unique to the season.

So, of course, since summer is in full swing around here – sunscreen, hair and skin are going to be my top concerns. Specifically the skin on my feet, which without getting too graphic, up to a few weeks ago, were far from “flip-flop”ready! Here are the products I’m loving this summer…

Colorescience Sunforgettable Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Brush

I’m sure I’ve talked about this sunscreen before, but I love it so much it’s worth mentioning again. After an actual skin related health scare last year, I’m trying to be a lot more conscientious about the sun. Keeping this little brush and powder combo with me at all times, especially in my beach bag, helps me to stay on track of my sunscreen coverage. It’s light and easy to apply, doesn’t clog my pores or feel weird. I’ll even use it on the back of my hands and quite often on my son’s neck, nose and ears. He prefers this mineral powder to the greasy sprays and lotions too!

rahua natural shampoo and conditioner

Unlike some of my facial products, I always like to mix things up when it comes to my hair. I had used Rahua shampoo and conditioner in a spa last year in California and loved the way it smelled and made my hair feel. I so was happy to discover this brand online and just ordered this combo. Little by little I’m trying to use more all natural beauty products and this company checks that box as well.

Living Proof Full Root Lift

My hair tends to get poufy on the bottom in the humidity, but remains flat on the roots…not a great look. At my stylist’s suggestion I bought a bottle of this root lifting spray. I happen to love the Living Proof line, having used (and loved) the Restore Perfecting Spray for quite some time. So far, so good!

Amope Pedi-Perfect Foot File

The skin on my feet is a constant source of aggravation and even embarrassment for me. In the big picture it’s not really a big deal. But, I’m of the mindset to fix something if I can. And, I was determined to fix this. After seeing a commercial one night I decided to give this electronic foot file a try. And, to my surprise it works! I’ve seen a dramatic improvement and I’m not as self conscious in sandals.

Lanolips Mulitpurpost Superbalm

Finally, as I mentioned earlier, I’m trying to move toward more all natural products. I tend to use a lot of Vaseline on my lips. A friend suggested I switch to this stuff, and I love it! I even started using it on the soles of my feet after I shower (and then I put on some fuzzy socks..heaven!)

PS: Still loving this affordable cleanser two years later!

I always love hearing what products other people use. Have you tried baby feet? I bought some for my mom after an technician at a nice spa raved about it. It’s kind of gross but really works to get the dead skin off.
