We are back home, from a long stay at our ski condo in Vermont, where we recently rang in the New Year. And, boy was it cold up there!
Last year, my time in Vermont, was completely consumed with fixing our new place up.
This was fine with me, as I would rather be decorating than skiing anyway. Below, are some shots I took of the place “Before”.
The place needed quite a bit of work, and I was a bit overwhelmed at first. Since it’s really a weekend place, that we would presumably only be using in the winter, I wanted to take some risks (choices that I might not normally make in our regular abode). Even though I was willing to embrace the ski/rustic/lodge theme that (almost) is mandatory for a ski house, I wanted to give it a different spin as well. Luckily, I found some great ideas in a House Beautiful photo, of a Connecticut home, designed by Healing Barsanti.
Once I spied that black and white Cole and Sons woods wallpaper, I knew I found my design inspiration. First off, it reminded me of the view from our window {two top photos} and, I knew the strange ceiling shape in our bedroom would look great covered with this amazing paper. Below are my “Afters”…
