Our Florida House: Some Updates

Here are a few shots of our vacation home taken over Labor Day weekend. As you can see, it’s still very much a work in progress, but it’s coming along. This top image is a glimpse of the type of double height walls I’m dealing with, this is a view from the open second floor looking down into the family room. The style of the home is contemporary, with a mash up of architectural elements and hardware from almost every era in design, and not in an eclectic mix kinda way…At any rate, I’ve added a few “before” images at the end, and check out the art in my daughters’ room, a lovely gift from the talented Laura Trevey. I had these prints framed in bold orange and adore the way the art works in this room. In fact, every where I look I see the positive impact this blog has had on the decor of this house…from obtaining “to the trade” items through Susie Isaac’s company, to seeing several pinned inspiration ideas come to life. Progress Peeks: Our Florida House

We’re back from a lovely week in Florida! You might remember this post, where I first gave little glimpses into our vacation home. Today, I happily have a few more peeks of the progress that we’re making. For starters, we’ve gotten some mirrors (like this Jonathan Adler one above) and some art onto our stark white walls. Our new piece by local artist Cheryl Maeder, makes me smile every time I enter the room. Speaking of smiles,  blue zebrine wallpaper by Rose Cummings, now graces our guest bathroom walls and ceiling! Beach inspired sconces, by Moth Designs were hung as well, and we made a lot of headway in our children’s rooms too. All of these shots were taken on Instagram, an absolute obsession for me, this app is perfect for my always have my phone, but never my camera self! So far, zhushing up this house has been a lot of fun, I’m getting to utilize many of the pieces and ideas I’ve written about here for years!

Collaborations Are Cool

Jess Constable, the brilliant entrepreneur and creative force behind Jess LC recently collaborated with artist Ann Shen, to produce a line of truly adorable totes. Jess then took this collaborative spirit one step further and asked me and some of my fellow (and favorite bloggers) to shoot some images for her look book. Here’s a sneak peek of what we did. You can view the whole look book and all the totes here.
