The Best Sweaters to Wear All Season Long

It’s officially sweater weather here in Connecticut!

I’ve rounded up some classic, great-looking sweater options.

All of these pieces are timeless, versatile, and perfect for the chilly months ahead.

Sweater Weather Essentials: My Top Picks

With the cooler weather officially here in Connecticut, I’ve been pulling out my sweaters and taking stock of what still works.

As I refresh my wardrobe for the colder months ahead, I’m looking to add a few new sweaters into the mix.

It’s always fun to update my fall and winter ‘uniform’ with some fresh, cozy classics.

Here’s what’s been catching my eye…

Cropped Cardigans

This super soft cotton cardigan just arrived, and I’ve already worn it at least twice.

The buttons give it a little extra flair and the cropped, but not too cropped cut is just perfection!

Roll Neck Sweaters

J.Crew has reintroduced its iconic roll-neck sweater this season, giving it a modern 2025 spin.

Still, I prefer the men’s cut, so of course that’s the one I just added to my cart

Vintage Inspired Charm

Designed with a soft crochet collar and ribbed trims, this sweater is crafted from plush yarn for a cozy, and luxe feel.

Dainty buttons and a relaxed fit make it effortless to layer under jackets or wear beautifully on its own.

A simple sweater that’s easy to throw on and makes you feel good is a great piece to have on hand.

This one features a delicate pointelle detail from neckline to shoulders.

Plus the alpaca merino blend makes it feel extra fluffy in a very luxurious way.

Classic Preppy Style

If there’s one style lesson I brought home from Paris, it’s that every wardrobe needs a versatile, chic gray sweater.

This one checks all the boxes!

Conclusion

Whether it’s a classic look or a casual style you’re interested in, I hope you enjoyed all of these sweater options and ideas today.

  1. Real wool is itchy. Layer a T-shirt underneath.
Re the long cardigans, when I worked in an office, one desk drawer was for heels and another was for sweaters. So one option is to keep your dramatic duster at work. But I also have several mid-calf coats (keep those knees warm!), and a long cardigan won’t stick out the bottom.

So true! I don’t tend to wear longer coats anymore, because I drive SO much! Life in the suburbs. Great ideas, thanks so much! XX

In Virginia and further down south, wool is a deal breaker many times. I buy wool sweaters and then hardly wear them, it only gets cold enough for them a couple weeks a year.
