Home Is The Key

Today’s post is part of Habitat for Humanity’s Home Is The Key campaign. When Habitat for Humanity asked me to help bring awareness to the rising affordable housing crisis we are facing as a nation, I didn’t hesitate to help spread the word. My home means so much to me, as I’m sure yours does to you. It’s hard to think about all the people who struggle every day in this country, without a safe haven to call their own.

My kitchen, shown here – is the Key to our home. Like so many of you – we consider our kitchen to be the heart of our home. Our kitchen is a warm and welcoming place to gather as a family, to talk, to celebrate – sometimes it’s just to grab a quick bite and run and other times it’s a place to slow down and create lasting memories. Without a place to call our own, it’s hard to imagine how stressful our daily lives would be.

That’s where Habitat for Humanity comes in. Habitat for Humanity does not just provide houses for families to live in. They provide a home for families to create memories. A place for families to feel safe and take pride in. A place to call their own!

Wallpaper Options for our Guest Room and Bath

The time has come to start placing orders for various home decor items in our beach house renovation.

Usually, I’m able to make quick decisions about these things.

However, I’m having a hard time deciding on some wallpaper choices.

The first floor has a guest bedroom and an adjoining guest bathroom which will have a separate door to the front foyer area, as it will function as the first floor powder room as well.

I’m almost positive I’m going to wallpaper the bedroom in a blue grass cloth paper.

I’ve ordered a few samples – this one and this one, just to be one hundred percent sure.

The trickier part is deciding on which wallpaper to go with in the adjoining bathroom.

I do know for sure I’m going to do wallpaper in the bathroom.

However, I think I’m going to have a half wall of wainscoting of either painted wood panel or white subway tile.

We’re remodeling the whole bathroom here.

Then on the upper half of the walls I’m planning on using a patterned wallpaper with a lot of blue in it.

Focusing on blue wallpaper here because not only with this coordinate with the bedroom, but also because these prints have a nice coastal, nautical vibe to them- perfect for a beach house.

I’ve narrowed down my choices to three papers shown here, below.

The first one is by Katie Ridder, the second Cole and Sons palm print paper .

I already used the palm print in the gray colorway in our guest bathroom in Connecticut.

The third print is a Serena and Lily’s herringbone pattern.

I’ve been admiring this paper for quite a while.

Since I can’t really decide, not only will I be ordering samples of these papers, but I think I’m going to possibly leave it up to price and availability.

The only bathroom we’re not going to paper in this project is the master bath.

Have a look at some of of my inspiration, which includes several beautiful bathrooms.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions here!

Thanks.
