Guest Bathroom Renovation Reveal

The end of the One Room Challenge is always a lot of fun.

I’m excited to show off our freshly zhushed guest bathroom renovation.

You might remember from Week One, that we had a plain, builder grade bathroom that lacked personality.

Renovation Design Inspiration for our Guest Bathroom

While it looks nothing like the original inspiration photo, having something/anything to inspire you in the beginning of a project can be a great jumping off point.

In this instance, it inspired me to go with some brass elements and some patterned wallpaper.

I’ve listed all the sources at the bottom of this post.

Unfortunately, the shower curtain and brass toilet paper holder I’d ordered arrived after the photos were taken late last week, at this point I’m not even sure the room needs them…

PS: Don’t miss the before and after of laundry room one room challenge here!

One Room Challenge: Week Five

Week Five of the One Room Challenge, how can that be? Time flies when you’ve got a deadline – November 11th seemed so far away and now it’s next week! Thankfully things are moving right along here.

As you can see, I went with the hex mirror and not the round one. Last week, the majority of comments were in favor of the round one – I was really hoping for that one too, but it was a bit too large. I could get it in there, but it would not be centered over the faucet OR it would bump smack up against the side wall, both options looked wrong. I figured because it was round I could cheat the centered thing a bit, but ultimately it looked too off center and would drive me nuts (not to mention look bad). Even though the hex mirror wasn’t my first choice, it saved the day. A lot more narrow, it fits much better in this small awkward space. As for the round one, I’m keeping it anyway. I know I can find a place for it somewhere else…

The wallpaper installation started yesterday and should be finished by today. We went over the fact that I’d like the entire nook above the vanity to be completely covered in the palm print paper to really make it pop (ie. the eave slanted ceiling area). The installer wasn’t so sure this was a good idea, as the print will not match up perfectly, but after achieving a similar look in our Vermont condo a few years ago (and loving it-despite the print not matching perfectly with seams from ceiling to wall) I convinced him that this was exactly what I wanted.

The hardware for the vanity arrived and looks great. The faucet‘s been put back in. I’ve been busy shopping for a few accessories to finish up the room (the zhushing-my favorite part!). Unfortunately, the brass toilet paper holder and the gray striped shower curtain I ordered might not make it here in time…but all the other fun little pieces have arrived and are ready for their close up.

Blogger Home Tour: The Enchanted Home

dark wood beams on ceiling in kitchen

Kicking off a new series here today where I’ve asked some of my favorite fellow design blog friends to share some photos of their lovely homes.

Who better to start this series off than Tina of The Enchanted Home.

I first discovered Tina when she was in the early phases of building her Long Island, New York dream home.

So, it’s extra special to share a small glimpse of her fabulous finished house here.

Built with entertaining on a high level in mind, the extraordinary finishes used throughout Tina’s home really make it shine.

Those ceiling beams get me every time!

Tina and I share a love for blue and white pieces – if you also love this timeless look be sure to check out The Enchanted Home and Tina’s well curated shop, where she carries many of the same pieces that she features in her stunning home.
