Decorative Storage Baskets

Decorative storage baskets are the best.

Especially around this time of year, when you need to finally start thinking about storing away all those winter accessories.

Since I’ve got spring cleaning and organizing on my mind these days, I’m thinking a lot about pretty baskets.

I’m also looking to add a new plant or two to the house.

We use baskets almost everywhere in our home.

Lately there have been so many special ones catching my eye, I thought I’d round up some of my favorites here.

The selection of different types of storage bins is endless.

Woven cotton rope, wire baskets, cube storage, cotton rope baskets – just to name a few.

This doesn’t even account for all the laundry hampers and laundry baskets out there!

Currently, I’m on the hunt for a narrow basket just like the one in the last image.

However, both the source of this photo and the source to purchase this basket elude me…so if anyone knows please let me know.

Thanks!

Spring Break Reading

Read any good books lately? We’re getting ready to head south for some much needed sunshine and downtime. I’m always reading something, but it’s during these school breaks, when our lives become so much less hectic that I’m really able to sink into my never ending book list.

The above books are either on my night stand or currently in my Amazon cart-I’d love to get even more suggestions – so if you’re loving or just finished a good book, please let me know in the comments.

As for my picks, I just finished  I’ll Drink To That and listening to Yes, Please (on audio books) and LOVED both…currently reading It Was Me All Along– so far, so good! I’m clearly in a “memoir phase”:)

My Blue and White Porcelain Obsession

Blue and White Porcelain

Blue and White Porcelain

Last year, if you asked me if I collected anything, I probably would’ve said no.

After our recent move, when confronted with all of our possessions and the task of unpacking them, it dawned on me… I do have a collection and a fairly large one at that.

Obviously, blue and white porcelain of all shapes and sizes is what I collect.

I even remember where and when I bought my first piece. Years ago on our honeymoon in Hawaii.

I wanted a little memento of our beautiful hotel room and picked up a very small round lidded box at the hotel’s gift shop. Shortly after, I remember acquiring a few more pieces for our first apartment in New York City at The Bombay Company Store.

I thought it made our place look quite sophisticated. I still have these pieces today.

Where to find blue and white porcelain

These days I find myself mostly searching Etsy for ginger and temple jars to add to my collection.

I pride myself on never paying a lot for these items. That’s part of the appeal of these pieces; it’s not always so easy to differentiate a bargain from a high-end antique.

Other great sources of late have been One Kings Lane and William Sonoma Home. I’ve even gotten a few favorite finds from Amazon.

Going over the images that Nicole Cohen took of our home, I got a kick out of spotting all of the blue and white porcelain I’ve amassed through out the years.

Here’s just a few of my pieces…
