Vermont Mud {Room}

our ski house mud room

Vermont might be the muddiest state with spring being it’s muddiest season. Unlike here in New York, the mudroom in Vermont is the work horse of the home…not only storing everyone’s bulky outerwear, but also preventing muddy boots and shoes from entering the house as well. I took these shots of our mud room during a rare uncluttered moment…we were closing up the place for the season. The last shot is a blurry “before” photo I took of the mudroom three years ago, right after we bought the place. As soon as I snapped the photo, I knew the ketchup red walls had to go, and that this Brunschwig & Fils “faux log cabin” paper would be perfect here. I even convinced my husband to let me cover up some of the wood paneling~ (ironically, with faux wood).

    Very rustic chic! I love a good mudroom, it is decidedly a very east coast/mid west term, because I hadn't even heard of it until a few yrs ago (being from California!)
