Essential Fall Layering Pieces

Let’s talk about some essential layering pieces for fall…

As the temperature begins to cool down and the leaves begin to change, it’s the perfect time of year to reevaluate your closet.

One of the challenges of the fall season is knowing how to dress for extra warmth, without over doing it in the process.

During the fall months the weather can be a bit unpredictable.

Cooler weather in the morning often gives way to milder temps in the afternoon and evening.

A great way to deal with this is to master the art of layering.

To do this successfully, you’ll need a few versatile pieces that can help bring an outfit together.

Essential Layering Pieces For Fall and Winter

Today I’ve got a few great ideas on how to achieve the layered look in style.

Here are 4 essential layering pieces to add to your Fall wardrobe.

Denim Jacket

An instant classic.

Denim jackets are a staple piece for any season.

These are great essential fall layering pieces because they can seamlessly transition from Summer right up to Winter.

Denim jackets can work with just about any outfit, but a loose-fitting jacket can be great for layering.

Basic hoodies and sweaters always look so cute when paired this way.

This fall outfit idea is a such an easy casual look to pull off.

The easiest way to look put together will minimal effort.

Leather Jacket

As with a good denim jacket, a leather jacket is also a great piece to add a little flair to your outfit.

Perfect for the colder months, there are now so many options to choose from, including this year’s most popular: vegan (or faux leather.)

I also love how these jackets now come in an array of chic solid colors.

Leather jackets can be so versatile and can be worn with pretty much any outfit on most occasions, which makes them the quintessential essential fall layering pieces!

Tailored Coats and Blazers

This year, tailored coats and jackets will be a key feature to add for layering.

And with good reason – tailored blazers are no longer limited to the office.

These easily be part of your everyday wardrobe too.

In fact, the right blazer can make for a great statement piece when styled just right. Just grab a pair of your favorite white sneakers and leggings to make your coat/blazer look and feel more casual.

My two favorite blazers are by Veronica Beard (perfect built in layering) and Cinq A Sept.

Cozy Sweaters

You can never go wrong with a cozy knit.

I mean, it’s called sweater weather for a reason!

Of course, comfort is key when it comes to a good knit sweater or cardigan.

From cotton sweaters, cashmere, chunky sweaters, v-neck sweaters etc, this is my favorite piece of clothing to wear as an extra layer when the weather cools down.

Pair them with a cute pair of skinny jeans and a button-down shirt.

This extra layer will make your knit look just as stylish as it is comfortable.

Opt for neutral colors to truly create a versatile capsule fall wardrobe which you can easily mix and match.

A long cardigan is the perfect top layer and is a great option if you’re just looking to add one new piece to your closet this fall.

White and Warren make some of my favorite long cardigans.

Quality base layers like a cashmere turtleneck are also a great idea if you don’t already own one.

Hope you enjoyed this quick round up some of my favorite fall layering pieces.
