Based off the popularity of past paint color posts, and on the number of questions which follow them, today I thought I’d discuss several tips on how to select the right paint finish.
How To Select The Right Paint Finish For Each Room
A fresh coat of paint can transform any room and breathe new life into your home.
Most people consider painting to be the ultimate do-it-yourself project.
If you’re doing this yourself, it’s important that you do your research on the right paint sheen for each particular project.
Choosing the right interior paint finish is just as important as picking the perfect paint color.
For example, most people look for an entirely different mood in a formal living room than in their family rooms or dining rooms.
In addition, there are also other factors to consider – from the lighting to the floor color, but one of the biggest factors is the finish of the paint.
Different paint types will result in a completely different look.
By following these tips you’ll have everything you need to choose the right finish for your project and make whatever room your working on sensational.
The Designer Look For Less Money: Great Home Decor Sources
Where can I get the interior design, designer look for less money?
This is a question I get asked a lot!
What are some great online home decor sources?
Which ones are my favorite?
Long time readers know I’m more than happy to answer all of these questions here today.
While I like to find cool, vintage pieces for my own home at flea markets and estate sales, this answer doesn’t really address the online portion of these questions…
So the closest thing I could think of is when I shop online is eBay
eBay is a favorite source of mine for getting vintage items.
This site is a favorite of mine for smaller home decor items in all different styles.
The good news is these don’t have to be pricey pieces.
I’m all about getting the high-end look for less whenever I can.
Some are brand new, but I also like to mix it up with older more unique finds.
Mixing the old with the new keeps the color palettes in this collection looking more interesting and less sterile.
Additionally, a quick search of gold Louis Philippe mirrorsover on eBay just led me to a similar look to this gold mirror in the first photo above – only a lot less than the original price tag!
If you keep an open mind, you can find some great gems on eBay which will rival even the best antique shops.
Whether your just looking to add a few new accent pieces to zhush up the look of your home or you’re looking to furnish a whole new home – Etsy is fast becoming one of my favorite place to shop online.
