The best tips for decorating with different shades of cream and white

Sarah Swanson’s beautiful home is a great example of how to decorate with different shades of cream and white.

I’ve been following Sarah Swanson’s interior design blog Flourish, Design and Style for a long time.

Over the years, I’ve watched Sarah build her e-design business and her charming Etsy water color art shop…(I even did a post about this back in 2014).

More recently, I was thrilled to see Sarah’s beautiful home featured over at Avenue Calgary Magazine.

There’s a lot to love about Sarah’s stylish  and laid back aesthetic.

The creamy whites and warm rustic details add up to a chic and sophisticated home with a very relaxed vibe-I especially love her serene bedroom set up.

Mix different shades of white with your cream colors.

A bright white room, if not done correctly, can often make a room feel a bit sterile.

Sarah is great at layering her spaces with different shades of white.

This keeps things from looking to0 cold and boring.

Using warmer whites helps to keep the space fresh and inviting.

Get creative with your materials.

I love how Sarah used white subway tiles in a herringbone pattern for her kitchen counter backsplash!

This little detail adds so visual interest to her kitchen.

When working with shades of creams and whites, try to use several different textures.

The neutral color palette in this living room is so soothing.

All of the soft surfaces and textures here make the whole room so inviting.

Linen, fur , white gray wood tones and leather are just a few of the various elements throughout this stylish space.

Add personal elements and accessories to your cream and white decor.

Love the white linen duvet cover on the bed.

A room with all white walls never looks boring when you add a bit of personality – like the Juju hat and graphic pillows seen here.

Conclusion

Personally, I love a home a lots of white, bright spaces.

Hopefully, this post has given you some great ideas on decorating with different shades of cream and white.

Remember, don’t shy away from mixing cream and white in your home decor.
