Our Black Glossy Powder Room: Before and After

I get a lot of emails with questions about the sink in this bathroom. I figured that alone justified a full post  (I also just rediscovered the file that held the one before photo here).

I LOVE the look of our powder room sink, however, it didn’t come easy. I’d originally seen similar sinks with lucite legs on a few blogs and Pinterest. I sent some images to Muse Interiors, hoping they could track down the manufacturer.  This turned out to be a dead end. The sink I was hoping to buy didn’t (and as far as I know-still doesn’t exist). What we were able to find was a company based out of Texas, Palmer Industries, that specializes in custom sink legs, including the Lucite ones I was looking for.

Thankfully I had the team over at Muse to help me navigate the rest of the parts needed to put together an actual working sink! Once the legs were sourced and ordered we still needed a bowl, faucet set, vanity counter top and pipes, not to mention a plumber to put it all together.  At the time I was surprised that a home decor company like Waterworks or Restoration Hardware hadn’t come out with an easier “ready to wear” version…but now, sure enough theres one on the market (see RH’s version here) and my guess there will be more to come…

The powder room came together beautifully, it’s dark and dramatic-exactly what I’d envisioned. As you can see from the one before shot below, that’s not how it started out. The transformative wallpaper is Farrow and Ball’s Lotus, the mirror is by Carver’s Guild (similar one here) and the black glossy paint is Fine Paints of Europe. I’ve listed a few more sources for the little decorative accessories at the bottom. If there’s still some questions about this room, please let me know in the comments.

  5. Hello dear .You put really very helpful information.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.

How does the wallpaper hold up to a bit of water spray? My kids have made a mess out of our painted powder room walls and I'm wondering if wallpaper might be a better choice. Looks beautiful – what a transformation!
