Progress In Florida: Vacation House Decor

Vacation House Decor

Last week we took the family down to Florida for a little get away. In between trips to Universal and a few other fun excursions, we managed to finish up a lot of over due home decor projects.

For the most part, this really just involved getting the art that we had previously ordered the last time we were down finally up on all those bare white walls.

I had agonized over what to hang over our gray couch in the living room (seen below) for quite some time.

The expansive white wall there is the major focal point of our home’s open living plan. I

‘m so glad that I waited until I found just the right two pieces and didn’t rush to fill up the space with any old thing (as I was tempted to do a few times for the sake of just getting it done).

The take away advice here is that it always pays to wait until something really speaks to you.

Now that the walls are no longer bare, the place is really starting to come together and feel like a home.

Progress Peeks: Our New House

Things are moving along design wise here at the new house, I’ll bring you all up to date (in case you might’ve missed it on Instagram).

We all love the way it looks (it even reminds us a little of our old front stair runner, which we also loved).

Masculine Interior Design

Masculine interior design style is the subject of today’s post.

Think home decor with a more traditionally masculine approach.

What is Masculine Interior Design?

I tend to gravitate towards more feminine decor…

Pieces with flowers and leopard prints will always catch my eye.

However, the best interiors are the ones that have a mix of both feminine and masculine details.

This mix is usually what makes makes for a more diplomatic approach to designing a home for many couples as well.

With this is mind, here are some really handsome recent finds…

These are the first of many as we attempt to finish up the design of my husband’s home office.

When it comes to traditional masculine interior design themes, think bold brass pieces, wood stain items, dark colors and more straight lines.
