Throw Pillow Arbitrage

For quite some time, I’d been looking to replace two very worn throw pillows in our family room. This room’s a high traffic area, right off the kitchen and favored by my three children, I didn’t want to spend a lot. While shopping in Greenwich, I came across two beautiful Suzani pillows that I knew would be perfect, but at $225.00 each, I decided to keep looking. On a whim, I googled the name of the fabric (I took home a “tear sheet” from the shop). I was more than thrilled to see the name of Etsy seller Turquoise Tumbleweed come up in my search results! Not only did this store carry my exact pillows, but they were only $59.00 each! I found so many additional options that I had a hard time choosing, but ended up sticking with my initial choice. I love that they have this textural 3D quality to them. Here is a shot of the old pillow, the new and some more great pillows from Turquoise Tumbleweed, which is really worth checking out… they’re all lovely!

Old, sad pillow.
New, happy pillow!

#Blogfest 2011: Who I Met

Jen Ramos of MadeByGirl, Me, Abbe Fenimore of studioten25, Beth Dotolo of PulpDesignStudio, Ashlina Kaposta of The Decorista

It was a lot of fun meeting up with so many of the people behind the blogs!

My only regret was not meeting everyone that I’d hoped to meet.

It was a jammed packed day full of design related events, I only wish there was more time between lectures for intros and photo ops.

Here are some of the ladies I met.

Others not shown that I had the pleasure of chatting with are Chassity from Look, Linger, Love, Linda from Surroundings, Janell from Isabella and Max Rooms, Stacy from StacyStyle, Marisa from StyleBeat, Nicole from Sketch42, Stacy from Quintessence and so many more…

It’s always great to meet with fellow bloggers because we share all these common interests.

Speaking of all things “blogging” I hope you’ll check out my interview over at the Blogstress Network where they were kind enough to feature The Zhush as the blog of the month!

Thanks ladies!

I’ve always loved a traditional white kitchen!

A peek inside our traditional white kitchen

Here is a little peek inside my kitchen!

As you can see, like many, I’m really partial to white kitchens.

If you’re wondering where all the clutter is…it’s in piles right behind where I’m standing (I moved it all for the photo:)

But seriously, here’s a little bit about our kitchen.

The counter tops are marble.

I’ve got a great post for your if you’re wondering about marble vs. quartz counter tops!
