Easily one of my favorite palettes to use in my own home.
These colors always look so beautiful and fresh.
The best part is these paint shades work with almost any type of decor.
Favorite Blue gray paint colors
We’ve used our fair share of blue gray colors through the years….
From a blue front door to a former gray blue dining room, and several pretty spaces in between, I definitely have my top favorites.
Let’s take a look at some of these popular colors.
Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray
A great place to start is with Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray.
While I’m not a fan of accent walls, I made an exception when it came to the two walls of built in bookcases in the living room of our beach house.
As you can see, the gray undertones are pretty strong in this shade, sometimes it does look more like a cool gray or even a neutral gray than a blue gray color.
It just depends on the time of day.
Sherwin Williams North Star
Next up is another lovely color, this time with more of a true blue note.
North Star was the perfect shade for the interior walls of our former pool house, pictured above.
A favorite of interior designers, this light blue color struck the perfect balance between gray and blue.
Benjamin Moore Water’s Edge
Another great option if you’re in the market for a grayish blue shade is Water’s Edge.
We chose this for our former beach house renovation project for many reasons.
The top reason being it works so beautifully with both crisp whites and the wood tones of the exteriors shingle siding.
With it’s strong blue undertones, this is such a classic color – the perfect choice for a coastal front door.
Depending on the time of day, this color would look baby blue to light gray.
Benjamin Moore Summer Showers
This is one of my favorite blue-gray colors.
We used it in our former living room, seen above.
If it looks a bit like wallpaper, it’s because we had a professional painter use a strie faux painting technique to give it a little texture and interest to this cool color.
This was the perfect color for this room.
I’ve also seen this light blue used in various different rooms – both powder rooms and in a master bedroom where it looks equally as beautiful.
Benjamin Moore Smoke
I also wanted to make sure I included Benjamin Moore’s Smoke in this gray blue paint colors round up.
Although we haven’t used this stunning blue color (yet) we did come very close several times.
This was when we were on the hunt for the perfect pale gray blue ceiling color – we ended up choosing Benjamin Moore’s Morning Sky Blue.

But, please remember – before you so much as even paint the door to one cabinet or kitchen drawer – always test out your paint samples.
As general rule you should be viewing them in both artificial light and in natural light – this is SO IMPORTANT.
Never underestimate the difference lighting conditions can make.
Also check them out during different times of the day to be extra sure.
