Insta-lations

I’ve been talking about our move to Connecticut for months and now the big day has finally arrived. The movers have already started to disassemble our lives here in New York and we hope to be somewhat settled by Friday. In other words, we’re in the center of our big move right now. I don’t know what our internet connection will be like these next few days or even if I’ll be able to find my computer….

Until these things come together, you can find me over on Instagram under @zhush. I’ll continue to post parts of the new house as things slowly come together. I’m really resisting the urge to publicly whine here…it’s a beautiful house and we chose to do this move to eventually make our lives easier. But I’m not someone that deals well with change and upheaval (not to mention dust and disorder). I’ve had no less than three mini melt downs today alone.

Each time I post a part of the new house to Instagram I get a little lift from  the “likes” and kind comments. The advice to “remember not to pack the scissors!” was a recent fave during an otherwise altogether stressful week. Thanks for the encouragement and hope to see you all back here tomorrow.

PS: Thanks also for the great feedback on yesterday’s kitchen reveal!

One Room Challenge Kitchen Reveal

Yay! We’ve reached the end of the one room challenge and on the one hand, not a minute too soon…we move in to the house at the end of the week!

On the other hand, I truthfully could’ve used several more weeks…

There’s no doubt that living in this space will absolutely impact how I actually style this kitchen.

Not to mention that our furniture isn’t even in the space yet.

I hope you’ll all come back and check out the lived in version of this kitchen when it’s finally and fully done (along with the progress on all the other rooms in our new home).

**update as of February 10–> Here’s the finished kitchen now!**

One Room Challenge: Week Five

Here we are at week five, it’s almost the end of the one room challenge.

Remember what this kitchen used to look like? On the one hand, it’s come a long way baby…on the other, there’s just one week left and there’s still a lot to do.

What I didn’t factor in was how much the stress of packing up our lives was going to wear on me…we move on November 7th. I also didn’t factor in that this kitchen really needed to be done sooner than the November 5th deadline, because it still needs to be scrubbed clean, staged, zhushed, furnished and photographed. And, that’s not even factoring in the other things that still need to be finished. But like a I hinted on Instagram earlier this week, I’m trying to stay positive with my “first world problems” here (#glasshalffull) Or, in this case, half the cabinets still missing handles is better than all the cabinets missing hardware, right!?
