Affordable Chinoiserie Panels and Sources

If you love the timeless beauty of these decorative items as much as I do, today’s post is for you!

First appearing in the 17th century, this trend of picturesque Chinoiseries was popularized in the 18th century due to the rise in trade with China and the rest of East Asia.

These original panels are collectors items and very expensive.

Thanks to popular interior designers like Mark D. Sikes and Caitlin Wilson, the luxury look of Chinoiserie wallpaper is still very popular to this day.

However, starting in the 19th century, you can now find a variety of prints and framed panels in a range of colors to achieve this look in a more affordable way.

Framed Chinoiserie wallpaper panels are a great way to get this high end interior designer look for less.

A lot less!

Especially, if they’re framed in a beautiful way…

Budget Friendly Alternatives

Let’s take a more detailed look at how to get this decorative work of art for less.

For example, a room papered in wall to wall de Gournay or Gracie Studio hand painted, colorful wallpaper can easily cost you over ten thousand dollars.

However, the options featured here today are a great budget friendly, high quality alternative for your home decor.

With these Chinoiserie mural panels, you get the elevated look of a high end beautiful paper mural for a whole lot less.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorites…

Handpainted Triptych of framed Chinoiserie panels in blue and whiteAnnette Handpainted Triptych – these large pieces are from Frontgate.

I love the idea of adding this type of triptych to a formal living room or beautiful dining room accent wall.

This type of wall decor can elevate the entire room.

Depending on your interior needs, you can opt for a variety of color schemes, or just stick to a few like these blue and white examples.

These affordable Chinoiserie wallpaper panels in deep blue and white would pop beautifully against a neutral hallway wall or entry foyer.

As you know, Etsy is a favorite source of mine for affordable options when it comes to home decor.

So, of course there are several Etsy vendors selling beautiful hand painted Chinoiserie panels.

Some will even work with you to create a custom size, using a mural wallpaper of your choice to suit your own personal style.
They really source and sell all the good stuff.
