Affordable Chinoiserie Panels and Sources

If you love these decorative items as much as I do, today’s post is for you!

First appearing in the 17th century, this trend of picturesque Chinoiseries was popularized in the 18th century due to the rise in trade with China and the rest of East Asia.

These original panels are collectors items and very expensive.

Thanks to popular interior designers like Mark d. Sikes and Caitlin Wilson, the luxury look of Chinoiserie wallpaper is still very popular to this day.

However, starting in the 19th century, you can now find a variety of prints and framed panels to achieve this look in a more affordable way.

Framed Chinoiserie wallpaper panels are a great way to get this high end interior designer look for less.

A lot less!

Budget Friendly Alternatives

Especially, if they’re framed in a beautiful way…

For example, a room papered in wall to wall de Gournay or Gracie Studio hand painted wallpaper can easily cost you over ten thousand dollars.

However, the options featured here today are a great budget friendly alternative for your home decor.

With these Chinoiserie mural panels, you get the elevated look of a high end beautiful paper mural for a whole lot less.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorites…

I love the idea of adding this type of triptych to a formal living room or beautiful dining room accent wall.

This type of wall decor can elevate the entire room.

As you know, Etsy is a favorite source of mine for affordable options when it comes to home decor.

So, of course there a several Etsy vendors selling beautiful hand painted Chinoiserie panels.

Some will even work with you to create a custom size, using a mural wallpaper of your choice.
I love the idea of creating an oversized Chinoiserie panel.
