Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray – Why This Paint Color Is Still SO Popular

Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray (or SW Agreeable Gray) is another gorgeous warm gray paint color.

This blog post first appeared last year, but since then I’ve updated it quite a bit.

I think you’ll definitely want to consider this easy on the eye’s, warm color, for your home…here’s a brief list of the top reasons why…

In fact, this paint color review is answering a very specific request of a reader who’s worried this color might be past “it’s prime” her words…not mine.

But, I can assure you, this gorgeous greige color is here to stay.

Don’t let the gray in the name fool you into thinking this paint color is no longer relevant in 2024, this is still very much a popular paint color and will remain so for quite some time.

Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray is another great choice if you’re in the market for a soft neutral gray paint color with barely visible green undertones.

Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray

Like I mentioned in past paint reviews, I’ve been drawn more to warmer whites and neutral shades lately.

Agreeable gray works a lot like a similar color to Benjamin Moore’s Edgecomb’s Gray.

Edgecomb Gray is one of my all time favorite greige paint colors.

See how similar Agreeable Gray looks next to Egdecomb Gray here.

Although both are beautiful neutral colors, I do think Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray SW is the perfect greige.

Other similar colors to Agreeable Gray are Benjamin Moore’s Collingwood OC-28, Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter and Sherwin Williams Repose Gray

You really can’t go wrong with any of these neutral paint colors!

But back to Agreeable Gray….

This could be the right color for you, if you’re on the hunt for a versatile wall color which would look equally great in a living room or dining room – this is a really good choice.

Let’s get into it…

Agreeable Gray’s Undertones

As I mentioned above, there is a hint of green in the undertone here.

I would also say Agreeable Gray might skew a bit into blue undertones in a north-facing room.

But, don’t let the cool undertones of Agreeable Gray SW 7029 fool you.

It’s still one of the top popular paint colors year after year and for good reason.

Despite these tricky little undertones, it really does fall into the warm greige color scheme.

Which is why it’s truly one of the best neutrals out there when it comes to complimenting almost any color palette you might find in interior decor, furniture and art.

It’s so easy to work with this versatile, beautiful color.

What is the lrv of Agreeable Gray Paint?

The lrv (light reflectance value or light reflective value ) of Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray is almost right in the middle of the LRV scale (1-100) at 60.

Making this shade what is known as a mid level hue on the color wheel.

Sample, Sample, Sample!

Ultimately you need to love the wall paint colors you choose for your own home.

Which is why I can’t recommend trying it out as a sample in your home first.

The Samplize peel and stick non-damaging adhesive backing allows for viewing in multiple locations and in different lighting without marking up your walls!

This is such a great option for testing out several different colors of paint in your home!

Seriously, I love these self stick samples so much!

Perhaps this is so obvious, but even the surrounding natural light and artificial lighting conditions from one room to another can differ and therefore change the look of any color.

Agreeable Gray Sherwin Williams Conclusion

So, if you’re looking to add a bit of warmth to your walls, this is color just might be the right choice for you.

I happen to love the hint of warmth of Agreeable Gray and think it would make for an excellent choice if you’re looking for a easy to work with neutral.

Live with a few samples for a few days before making your final decision.

It’s always a good idea to sample during different times of day.

Also, be sure to test the color in natural and artificial light too!

Personally, I think the best way to do this is with these large self stick paint samples.

Because you can easily move them around.

I know because I’ve done it.

Look how brilliant these Samplize adhesive wall paint samples are.

No messy paint cans to deal with before you commit! Win/win!
