Coastal Kitchen Designs
We’ve gotten a lot of questions on our beach house kitchen remodel and coastal kitchen ideas in general.
So, let’s get into some of the most popular inquiries.
What paint color did you use for your white cabinets?
We went with Benjamin Moore OC-151 for our white kitchen cabinets.
There isn’t a lot of actual wall space in this kitchen, but we did continue with the same color throughout.
Would you consider blue cabinets for a beachy kitchen?
Yes, I think adding color to your kitchen this way can be a great way to achieve a subtle coastal theme.
I’ve got some beautiful blue gray and soft blues paint color recommendations if you’re interested in pursuing this color palette.
However, if colored cabinets aren’t your personal style – you might want to consider adding a subtle pop of color with your backsplash choice.
We chose glass subway tiles with a subtle hint of sea foam green, which reminds me so much of sea glass.
Thanks to the large windows, this kitchen gets a ton of natural light, so the glass backsplash really shines during the day and looks so beautiful with the stainless steel appliances we chose for this new kitchen design.
Open Shelving
When it comes to coastal decor, you might want to opt for open shelving instead of traditional upper cabinets to showcase beach-inspired decor and kitchen essentials.
Display colorful glassware, woven baskets, and ceramic dish ware to add visual interest and create more of a coastal feel.
Incorporate floating shelves made from natural wood for a rustic touch.
Pendant Lights
Here’s some great looking ideas to consider…
Illuminate your coastal kitchen with lighting fixtures that reflect the natural beauty of the seaside.
Choose pendant lights with woven rattan or wicker shades reminiscent of beachside cabanas.
Incorporate fixtures with neutral colors to bring home a subtle modern coastal look.
Of course you can also choose to go with a more modern aesthetic, like we did here, above.
We kept the light fixtures simple and allowed the interior design of this beach-inspired kitchen to speak for itself.
Plus, this kitchen opens right up into our dining area and we have a stunning bubble glass chandelier over the dining room table.
Did you choose marble countertops?
While I do think marble counters are stunning, for this coastal-inspired kitchen we chose to go with quartz countertops.
We used this material before in a prior kitchen renovation and were very happy with it.
Conclusion
Bringing the relaxed ambiance of the beach into your kitchen is easier than you think with these inspiring beach and coastal cottage kitchen ideas.
By incorporating soothing colors, natural materials, and nautical accents, you can create a space that captures the essence of coastal living and provides a tranquil retreat for cooking, dining, and entertaining.
Let your imagination soar as you embark on the journey to transform your kitchen into a seaside haven that exudes warmth, comfort, and style.
