Enclosed Patio Ideas To Inspire Your Own Outdoor Spaces

Regardless of whether you call it a backyard enclosed patio or a screened-in patio – this is what we’re talking about today.

Hopefully you’ll find some good ideas for your own patio enclosure.

Backyard Enclosed Patio Ideas

Above is our enclosed back porch in Rhode Island.

Because it’s such a great place to hang out on hot nights, this summer I’d like to focus more on getting it fully furnished.

As you can see, it’s very traditional, with a nod to it’s New England coastal setting.

The wood-paneled ceiling has so much character and charm.

I love this outdoor space so much, even though we don’t get to use it as often as I would like.

We’re still trying to come up with the best patio furniture plan here – one which will have a modern look yet still look cohesive to the open space.

We want this versatile outdoor space to feel like a casual living space, an extension of our indoor living room.

Creating an Outdoor Living Room

So far, in terms of creating an outdoor living room, here’s what I’m thinking for some backyard enclosed patio ideas….

First off, I need to add some more colorful pillows, an area rug and string lights to this patio space.

I always think adding little lights like these to any patio area, are a great idea.

These three things will go a long way in terms of giving the whole set up more personality.

I also think we need at least two rocking chairs out here – it just seems like the perfect place for them .

We have a wooden deck in front of the house which also needs some attention, they both get a lot of outdoor use during the summer – so maybe the rockers will go on the front porch, not sure yet.

Either way, rockers are fun and always a good idea!

I tend to remove ceiling fans – but when it comes to an outdoor living space, it just made so much sense to keep it.

Plus, it provides a nice focal point.

Here we just switched it out to give it a more updated look.

It’s so nice to sit out here in the fresh air at night.

We need to complete our seating area with just a few more touches.

For the overall look here, we’re going with a lounge area in this enclosed porch.

It’s it’s nice that it’s such a private lounge space, making it an excellent spot for a post beach nap.

The natural light also makes it very appealing for curling up with your favorite books for hours.

There are so many great options these days when it comes to stylish outdoor furniture and outdoor rugs…

Right now, the patio area has this fun coffee table and two sofas.

These rattan furniture pieces really appealed to me and a patio cover for the furniture makes it easy to deal with various weather conditions…

As long as we remember to use them!

Outdoor Patio Ideas

We don’t have enough room in this outdoor area for a dining table, but if we had an outdoor dining area, I’d go with this popular choice below:

outdoor dining set on a rug with small party lights.

Bluffdale Wood 6 Person Rectangle Patio Dining Table -(above) perfect for getting the whole family together in an outdoor dining room space.

When it comes to patio design ideas, I also like the idea of an outdoor rug, as I think it’s a great way to pull everything together.

This patio style set up below also looks so appealing.

Another option which looks like such a comfortable space.

Love both of your homes. Great taste. I chose(not ordered yet) a composite cedar shingle pre-finished in SW Worldly Gray. It is a small ranch in a beach area. I want a light coastal look . Some feedback I have gotten is not a good color for a ranch that looks like a cottage and too light. I have seen this on a large home and loved it. Can look gray or beige. Would appreciate your input. Thanks.

Without seeing it, it’s hard to tell, but I think it will look nice based on your description. A ranch or cottage, shouldn’t matter.
